ChickFilA...need I say more?

I am always up for a dinner-free night at my house. Be it pizza or picnic, if I get a chance to escape the dinner gauntlet for a night, I take it! So when the Hope MOPS coordinators sent this along to me, I wanted to make sure you got the same chance. Forget that casserole and come on out tomorrow night:

Join us at the Chik Fil A in the Short Pump Mall Food Court this Wednesday June 24 from 5-7pm for our first Spirit Night! MOPS receives 10% of all receipts when you mention Hope MOPS. The spinning wheel will also be available for 50 cents a spin and each spin is a winner! Please let family or church or neighborhood friends know about this date and see if they’ll join us too!

Also, we will be collecting registration forms for MOPS next year at Chik Fil A. Just come over to the spinning wheel and you’ll see a familiar face! We will extend the $5 discount for membership ($60 instead of $65) until the end of June. Just print the attached registration form and forward it to a friend who might be interested in joining us!

See you Wednesday!

Summer Update

The first official day of summer for Henrico County students began...with rain. We woke on Monday morning to a steady pounding rain, keeping us from our normal morning walk and making the first day of swim lessons a little less than appealing! But that couldn't shake my happy mood---aah, summer! Schedules relax a bit, the long bright mornings and lazy evenings make even the work day seem shorter.

Around Hope, there are several opportunities to take a hold of in the summer months. Obviously, summer takes us to many different places, and none of these groups will begrudge you your vacation (well, maybe a little...) So don't let swim meets, vacation plans or work trips hold you back. Come when you came and enjoy great fellowship. What category works for you?

I want to keep learning.
Then check out the Wednesday night bible study on Having a Mary Heart in a Martha World, or how about a co-ed night? Thursday nights start a summer study on Spiritual Transformation, led by Brad and Marmi Houff. Childcare is provided at $50/family for the whole summer. Talk about a cheap date!

Aaah...What Can I Do With My Kids?
Check out Hope's weekly playgroup for the wee ones, and Summer of Arts, offering different classes all day long from July 21-24. Mark the calendar, baby!

I need something low-commitment!
Then enjoy some summer reading, with Alicia Britt Chole's new release Finding an Unseen God. Discussions will take place in three-session groups starting in July.

Happy Summer and we'll see you around Hope!

Hope's Summer of Arts 2009

“When I consider the heavens, and the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him?" Psalm 8:3-4

Do you ever stand in awe of God’s abundant creativity? Look around at the intricate beauty of His creation. God is an artist and all that He has created is good! His creation is an expression of His loving and awesome character. This summer take the opportunity to further explore God’s beauty and creativity through Hope’s Summer of Arts program.

Explore your own creativity through a number of adult classes, including photography, painting, drama, songwriting, graphic design and guitar. Or, take a break this summer while your children stir up their creative juices in one of our Kids’ Camps. A variety of classes are available for rising first graders through adults. Participants will receive hands-on instruction in a relaxed environment and will leave with a greater capacity to create and appreciate art.

All classes will be held at Hope Church the week of July 20. The program will culminate in an art show and a final program on July 26th in the Hope concourse.
